Phase Model

The waterfall or phase model is a sequential project management concept in which the project is split into sequential phases and worked on accordingly. Each phase must be completed before the next one begins.

Effort: Difficulty: Effectiveness:

Can be useful for straightforward projects with stable, clearly defined requirements, but should always offer the option of jumping back between phases to perform changes (modified waterfall). For simple projects, precise scheduling is possible due to defined start and end points of the phases.
