We at Table of Elements - Schloß, Botta, Plunien GbR “we” or “us” are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring that your data is handled responsibly. This privacy declaration describes how we collect, use, and handle information in connection with our mobile app (iOS) and our website at table-of-elements.io.

1. Data Collection and Use

• No personal data collection during general use: When you generally browse our website or use our apps, we do not collect personal information that can directly identify you, such as your name, address, or contact details.

• Exception: voluntarily providing your email address. If you voluntarily provide your email address on our Downloads page to receive the Methods Poster or the Project Canvas as a PDF, we process that email address. See section 3 for details.

• Anonymous Usage Data: We may collect anonymous usage data, such as session duration, feature usage, and error reports, solely for the purpose of improving our apps’ and website functionality, stability, and user experience. This data cannot be used to identify individual users and is aggregated to help us understand general usage trends.

2. Data Storage and Security

• Data Minimization: We only collect and process the minimum data necessary to enhance the apps and website.
• Security Measures: We implement technical and organizational security measures to safeguard any data we collect. Although no system can be entirely secure, we use appropriate measures to protect against unauthorized access, disclosure, and modification.

3. Email Signup for Downloads (Methods Poster & Project Canvas) via Brevo

On our Downloads page, you can voluntarily provide your email address to have the Methods Poster and/or the Project Canvas sent to you as a PDF file.

• What we collect: Your email address, along with the time of your signup and confirmation. A hidden form field serves solely as spam protection (honeypot) and is not evaluated if left blank, as intended.
• What we use it for: To send a confirmation email (double opt-in) and, once you’ve confirmed, to send the requested download link. We may occasionally also share news about Table of Elements.
• Legal basis: Your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), given by checking the box during signup.
• Data processor: Delivery is handled by the email service provider Brevo (Brevo SA, 55 Rue d’Amsterdam, 75008 Paris, France), with whom we have a data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR. Brevo processes your data within the EU. For more information, see Brevo’s privacy policy.
• Retention & withdrawal: We retain your email address until you withdraw your consent. Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link, which you can use at any time and without giving a reason.

4. Third-Party Data Processors

We do not share your data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes, other than the email service provider Brevo mentioned in section 3. Any data collected may only be processed by our trusted partners who assist in improving apps and web performance and are bound by data protection obligations.

5. Data Retention

Anonymous usage data is retained only as long as necessary to improve our apps’ and website’s performance. Data may be retained in an anonymized form for statistical analysis and business intelligence.

6. GitHub Pages as a Hosting Service

Our website is hosted via GitHub Pages, a hosting service provided by GitHub, Inc. Certain technical data, such as IP address, browser type, and access time, may be collected by GitHub when accessing our site. 9. In-App Purchases and Data Privacy

Our app offers in-app purchases, which are processed through Apple’s In-App Purchase system.

Apple In-App Purchases

If you make an in-app purchase, the transaction is handled directly by Apple, including the processing of your payment information. This means that sensitive information, such as payment details, is collected and processed by Apple and not by us.
